EU Green Week is an annual opportunity to debate European environmental policy with policymakers, leading environmentalists and stakeholders from Europe and beyond. This year's edition focuses on the European Green Deal - the EU’s sustainable and transformative growth strategy for a resource-efficient and climate-neutral Europe by 2050.
#eugreenweek
We organize an official partner event!!!
What is the European Green Deal?
The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment sent us promotional materials.
Thank you!
#EUGreenWeek 2022!
Let's make our #EUGreenDeal objectives for 2050 real, all together!
Our event agenda
Day 1-30th May
We started the European Green Week 2022!
30th May-online meeting with teachers and students from Romania, Turkey, Latvia and Republic of Moldova.
We presented our Erasmus+KA210 project and its first mobility and talked about the European Green Deal and the importance of the 3R's.

Day 2-31st May
Students from Romania, Turkey, Latvia and Republic of Moldova made digital posters with slogans about recycling, reusing and reducing.
Recycling is one of the world's priorities to reduce the "footprint" that human beings are leaving on this planet. As inhabitants, it is one of the easiest environmental actions to do since it does not require major changes in habits, just separate the waste in different types of containers (even used clothes or batteries).
Other very important habits are to reduce consumption (buy only what is necessary, such as clothes) and reuse (such as going to buy in bulk stores reusing our packaging, buying and selling second-hand, giving away or donating what we no longer need it for other people to use, etc.).
In fact, there is a lot of talk about the 3 R's (RRR): Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Also in this order, since the first thing is to reduce consumption to the minimum possible, then reuse as much as possible what we have and finally recycle recyclable materials in case they cannot be used anymore.
These steps are not enough to avoid climate change, but they are very visible habits that we can all apply in our daily lives, both at work, at home, and on the road.
Creating informative and educational posters about recycling, reducing and reusing will have a great positive impact on the students and people who read them.

Day 3-1st June
Students from Romania, Turkey, Latvia and Republic of Moldova created recycling bins!
Using a recycling bin and reducing the waste we produce that goes to a landfill is an important and necessary contribution each of us makes to save our environment.

Day 4-2nd June
Bird feeders from recycled materials!
Today students from Romania, Turkey, Latvia and Republic of Moldova are creating bird feeders from recycled materials!
Making easy recycled bird feeders is a great way to get students involved in nature and teach them about how to be environmentally friendly.

Day 5-3rd June
Art and crafts from recycled materials!
Students from Romania, Turkey, Latvia and Republic of Moldova created art and crafts from recycled materials!
Recycle art provides a new purpose for objects that have satisfied their original use. Using these objects in artwork conserves resources and reduces the amount going to landfill.
Recycle art promotes an important message. Its serves as a reminder of the issues facing our planet and serves to inspire us to change our lifestyle and reuse our items in new, creative ways.

Day 6-4th June
Our last day of activities is dedicated to the selective recycling of waste!
Why is recycling important, and how can it benefit the environment?
1. Protects Ecosystems and Wildlife
When we recycle, we lessen disruption to the natural world. When we cut down fewer trees and forests, we are preventing harm to animals. By reducing disruption and damage to the natural world, we help preserve ecosystems and wildlife.
2. Conserves Our Natural Resources
Some of the world’s natural resources are in short supply, and when we recycle, we help conserve these natural resources.
When we recycle paper, we save forests and trees. When we recycle plastic, it takes up a lot of solid waste and can take centuries to break down. In addition to this, most plastic comes from fossil fuel hydrocarbons.
Recycling metals reduces the need to extract new metal ore while recycling glass reduces our need for certain raw materials like sand.
3. Saves Energy
Making products from recycled materials requires less energy than making them from new, raw materials. It takes much less energy to make products out of recycled materials than from raw materials. For example, recycling one glass bottle saves enough power to light a 100-watt light bulb for four hours.
4. Reduces the Need to Harvest New Materials
When we recycle, it reduces our need to harvest raw materials. Our increasing demand for these raw materials also displaces people who live near forests or around river systems. When we recycle, we reduce the possibility of damaging someone else’s land or community.
5. Reduces Carbon Emissions
Recycling takes up less energy, which reduces our carbon footprint and emissions. Reducing our carbon footprint helps minimize methane-release waste from landfill sites, which contributes to climate change.
6. Saves Money
Recycling waste is much cheaper than regular waste collection and disposal. The more we recycle, the more money we can save. Deposit returns can also help add financial incentives to recycle.
Recycling can help protect the environment while conserving natural resources. It is critical to recycle and minimize the amount of waste we are putting into the atmosphere. Doing so can help save energy, reduce landfill waste, and protect our environment.
7. Brings People Together
Recycling brings communities together and helps people raise money for schools, colleges, hospitals, and more. These recycling drives make towns and cities happier and cleaner.
8. Educates People About the Importance of Protecting the Environment
When communities come together to raise awareness about recycling, it teaches people about the importance of protecting the environment and how to do so. Educating people about protecting the environment can help equip future generations with the knowledge and understanding they need to reduce pollution.
9. Creates Jobs
Recycling creates new jobs every year. Jobs in recycling include sorters, drivers, mechanics, technicians, and more.
10. Reduces Incineration
When we recycle, we reprocess materials to make new products, reducing the amount of waste sent for incineration.

Day 7-5th June
World Environment Day
World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 each year, led by the United Nations Environment Program, to raise awareness about the degrading environment and encourage people to take positive actions and help create a better future.
This year presents a historic milestone, marking 50 years since the Stockholm Conference. Sweden is the host country of World Environment Day, 2022, with ‘Only One Earth’ — focusing on living sustainably in harmony with nature — as the theme.
World Environment Day is being observed at a time the planet is facing multiple crises — from climate change to biodiversity loss and an increase in carbon emissions.
This day reminds people of the power at the grassroot and community levels to bring about positive change by making better choices and keeping a check on government and corporate policies that damage the biosphere.
